Russ is an active duty Marine, currently assigned as the Motorized Operations Training Section OIC for Tactical Training Exercise Control Group. In this billet he serves as a corridor exercise controller/instructor for the Marine Corps Service Level Training Exercise, Intergrated Training Exercise (ITX). Throughout his 16 year career, he has served as a Battalion Electro-Optics Repairman for 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, the Motor T and Maintenance Management Officer for 6th Marine Regiment, and a Company Commander for Combat Logistics Battalion 6, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, and 2d Transportation Support Battalion. He has also served in a joint billet as the Asst. Support Operations Officer for the Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan. He is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School at Quantico, VA and is currenlty finishing his Masters in Transportation and Logistics Managment from American Military University.
