Fellow Logisticians and Logistics Enthusiasts,
Getting this AMCL movement going has been a lot of fun, but of course there is also a lot to do! This is where professionals talk logistics, and of course we're dedicated to the development of Marine Corps logistics professionals.
I've often been asked, "How can I help?" Well, glad you asked. Because now that we're up and running with a growing online presence, we're pushing ahead with events (keep an eye on https://www.marinecorpslogistics.org/upcoming-events). This is where you come in.
We're looking for a few good...volunteers! Specifically, we need to flesh out our planning committees. We've got a fairly aggressive vision for 2019 with a number of site visits, forums, and of course our inaugural annual gala (of sorts) we're planning for the fall timeframe, and we'll need help getting all this together. So what are we looking for? Here's a short list, but of course it's not all inclusive:
-General planning & legwork: exploring venues (dates, prices, catering options, sizes, etc.), budgeting
-Media: Assist in the communications campaign, including social media, and designing marketing products (working with our VP of Communications)
-Procurement & fundraising: Auction items, target donations, thank you notes to donors, door prizes, gifts, etc.
-Admin & Logistics: Attendee registration, check in, seating charts
-Creative idea generation: sometimes, we just need folks to come up with cool stuff. We don't have all the great ideas...but we know you do! All of us are smarter than each of us!
So, if you have some bandwidth, skill, smarts, and general moto to offer, we'd love to have you. For now, we're generally focused on the National Capital Region as we get started (though stay tuned for our expansion plan to other installations), so we mostly need local folks...mostly. There will certainly be some committee planning meetings, and in-person is generally best. We're tech friendly, but video calls are harder from a bar with lots of noise... Ok, so we don't ALWAYS meet in bars!
So what do I do, you ask? Easy! Shoot us an email at MarineLogisticians@gmail.com, and let us know how you can help.
Don't forget to join us for our No Host Social at Highline R&R in Crystal City on January 29 (see our events page at https://www.marinecorpslogistics.org/upcoming-events) and of course be sure to follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
This is going to be a great year, and we're looking forward to working with you to make it an even better one!
Semper Fidelis,
Kirk Spangenberg
Vice President of Operations, AMCL
