Awards Submission Guidelines

In 2024, AMCL is accepting applications for the following awards from across the uniformed service, civilian workforce and service
academy students.

The 2024 AMCL Awards Contest is open from March 15 to June 30, 2024.

Multiple entries are allowed, only one award will be given per category.

How to Submit

Email submissions to awards@marinecorpslogistics.org. Please add "AMCL Award Submission" to the Subject and specify the award category the submission is for. Submissions should utilize the appropriate AMCL Award Template to ensure proper grading in line with award category.

All awards are open for self-nomination and there is no requirement for command endorsements.

Deadline

All submissions must be received no later than June 30, 2024.

2024 AMCL Award Categories

Logistics Think Tank (LOGTANK) Award

Open to all active, reserve or retired military personnel, civilian workforce and current service academy students.

An idea that solves or improves an operational challenge that supports the Stand In Forces or puts Marines in the position of advantage in the future.

1500-1800 word essay or 5-10-min video submission

Logistics Fiction (LOGFIC) Award

Open to all active, reserve or retired military personnel, civilian workforce and current service academy students.

Fictional short story or video on the future of Marine Corps Logistics Support

1500-1800 word essay or 5-10-min video submission

Strategic Partnerships Award

Open to all active, reserve or retired military personnel, civilian workforce and current service academy students.

Identification of new training or public/private partnership opportunities that support Marine Corps’ future warfighting concepts

Maj Michael Whitaker Award

Open to all active, reserve or retired military personnel, civilian workforce and current service academy students.

2025 - Data Driven Logistics Solution Award.

This award is named in honor of Major Michael Gerrod Whitaker USMC (November 4, 1987 to December 24, 2023). As part of his distinguished career as a Logistics Officer, which included two combat tours to Afghanistan, he was individually selected to solve the Marine Corps’ most challenging logistics problems. His Master’s Thesis work on Conditions Based Maintenance led to a significant effort by the Marine Corps to dramatically advance the Service’s approach to autonomous, predictive Maintenance.

The Award seeks to recognize innovative and impactful data-driven logistics solutions within military organizations.

1500-1800 word description, or a video or graphical demonstration that details the solution that was developed and the impact it created.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Open to all active, reserve or retired military personnel and civilian workforce with a minimum of 9 years of experience contributing to the Marine Corps logistics community.

Significant contributions to the field of military logistics. Requires Nomination

Two to Three page description of nominee’s impact to their organization and their subordinates
